The installation »Ivan« was produced for the MFA examination at the Royal University College of Fine Arts in Stockholm. Ivan Hoflund, a relative of Daniel Hoflund, studied at the same art academy about hundred years ago. In this exhibition, Daniel Hoflund presents a historical relation to the romantic poet Erik Johan Stagnelius by reconstructing old found photographs and taking the role as the related Ivan. The associative patterns of biographical and geographical references create a world of images that deals with identity, inheritance, romanticization and the construction of the self.
